I met four naturalists named Arnie C., Renae, Dave, and Bob. My first station was with Dave. He showed us animal pelts from 3 different habitats. The 3 habitats were: wetland, grassland, and forests. Some of the animal pelts were of minks, opossum, and red fox.
After we saw the furs, we went on a hike with Bob. We saw a dead muskrat, a sparrow, a buzzard, a great blue heron, and a red winged black bird. We also saw a group of turtles that were sun bathing and floating in the water. We got to look at them through telescopes.
After the hike we went fishing with nets. We caught crawdads, beetles, and dragonfly nymphs. We put them all in buckets.
Then we looked at them in the clubhouse. We looked at them under a microscope. I also had a crawdad crawl on my hand, and it tickled. I thought it was interesting when these 2 beetles were zooming around.
Overall, the trip to the marsh was very fun. I think the students really learned a lot.
