When ACAP went to Iowa City they listened to four speakers. The presentations were about jobs at the newspaper and how to transition from high school to college.

The first thing we did was listen to Erika Binegar and Jason Brummond speak about their jobs at the Daily Iowan. Brummond started off as a sports writer, and is now the editor in chief. Binegar is a metro editor and she assigns the articles to the staff members and she edits them. Every Sunday at the DI, there is a meeting to decide what to put in the newspaper and what is going on that week. Sometimes they have hard and stressful days, but that's what makes it fun.

After lunch there was a presentation from the Center for Diversity and Enrichment. The speakers were Charity Cooper and Guinevere Banks. They talked about the six different things that you do between high school and college. The six things are: stay in school, join a summer camp, know the course requirement, take the ACT, increase your skills, and ask questions. They gave us all yellow lanyards at the end of the presentation.
