ACAP History
Sam Hayes I know it doesn’t seem long, but in
eight years,
ACAP has improved immensely. From new computers to a larger variety of age
groups, ACAP went from five students’ idea, to a popular summer camp with large
amounts of kids coming every year.
ACAP is celebrating its seventh anniversary along with Central’s 100th
anniversary celebration. Seven years of fun and learning has brought more and
more kids to the program. At the same time, more and more alumni are coming back
to help to make more things happen. The field trips are about the same every
year; the students go to the University of Iowa, Quad City Times, and Pioneer
Village.
ACAP is important because kids get a chance to show how they feel about
subjects. It’s their chance to let people know what they think, and their
opinion actually counts. Also, it increases typing ability, editing skills, and
how to deal with different opinions. Also, it will increase your chance of
getting a spot on high school and college newspaper staff. |
