Junior Koree Allinger will join Paul Baresel at the National Forensic League National Speech competition. Allinger qualified, placing second in District Student Congress Senate Feb 24.
“I’m really excited for what I will see at Nationals. I also want to watch the Lincoln-Douglas debaters,” Allinger said.
School awarded grant to begin radio,
pod and vodcast

Deb Buttleman Malcolm was delighted to learn that the school journalism program has been awarded the Radio and Television News Director’s Foundation High School Education Project Grant funded by he John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.
The $2,000 received, with the help of Principal Tim Wernentin will be used to purchase equipment for a pilot program through the newspaper lab with radio, podcast and vodcast to merge with the BlackhawK online.
Cars without parking passes towed and ticketed; students unhappy

Students illegally parked in the school lot were towed Feb. 28.
“We have given illegally parked students $15 tickets about half-a-dozen times. This hasn’t worked as well as we would have hoped, so we are resorting to towing the illegally parked cars. We are just trying to support the kids who followed the proper procedures,” Assistant Principal Robert Scott said.
