Youth congress benefits minorities

The Iowa Youth Congress, Congress for Minorities in Action, met at the Iowa House of Representatives in Des Moines Dec. 1-2 to work on three bills which would be beneficial toward Iowa’s minority youth.
The school representatives and alternates were sophomore Katie Custus, juniors David Svoboda and Nick De La Cruz and seniors Chastity Dillard, Janetta Boone and Briana Byrd.
“Being involved in the Iowa Youth Congress was a great way to learn to learn about the Democratic process. I feel more knowledgeable about our government now that I represented the school at the congress,” De La Cruz said.
Study program launched : New Bring a Buddy to Study program aimed at all students

“Community, diversity and responsibility are the things that the Bring a Buddy to Study program is all about,” social studies teacher William Bradford said.
