Creatine: Pumping you up
Tim Corlett Many students actively weight lift for Bigger Faster Stronger and their sports team. Some of these students use a sports supplement called creatine monohydrate.
Carbamimidoyl-methyl-amino acetic acid, or creatine phosphate, is a natural substance found in fish and meat. Creatine helps provide a short burst of energy to athletes whether it be lifting or sprinting. Creatine also helps prevent the build up of lactic acid in the muscles. Lactic acid is a chemical in your body that causes a burning effect in muscles after strenuous use.
Manning strokes to state

Sam Manning placed eighth in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 55.93. Manning and the school recieved 21st place.
Manning’s time in the backstroke qualified him to advance to state where he will compete Feb 17 in Marshalltown. He is the only qualifier from here.
Wrestlers off to state tourney

Feb. 17 the team participated in the district meet. The teams had a strong showing out of their wrestlers. Although the team did not win the meet, two wrestlers will make the journey to Des Moines for the state meet. Junior Max Mayfield and sophomore Tom Mirocha will make their trips back to Des Moines after a successful season on the mats.
The two will make the trip this weekend to Des Moines, both looking for state championships.
