New football coach brings Experience
Chris Cook
Max Duvall was hired last spring as the new head football coach. At his press conference, he stressed to change the football program to an organized franchise. As the summer pre-season camps started, he fully dedicated himself to the program, even though he still had not moved to Davenport from his last job.
“That’s [high school football] where my passion is,” Duvall said.
Gillund leads boys golf
Tim Corlett
Making a birdie or an eagle to shoot under par is nothing new to Connor Gillund. He is the number one player on the boy’s golf team.
Gillund has been playing the sport since he was 12. Even at that age, he showed potential. He started playing after a visit to the First Tee Camp. Gillund started out shooting in the low 90’s and high 80’s for 18 holes. Four years later, he has lowered his scores into the 60’s. Gillund holds the lowest scoring average on the team, averaging around 35 strokes for nine holes. John Hoeksema is a close second to Gillund, who has a slim stroke average over him.
